-I want to start with the customer service: 11/10; I've never received a hand-written post it note from a company before, thank you, Melanie! Before I bought the 92 map and ETS intake package, I messaged customer support with a few questions. Melanie replied really quickly, and was able to answer everything I asked about. There was even a discrepancy between the product descriptions and Fuel Types listed, and after telling Felix Performance about it, the description was changed within a few days! That's great attention to detail, this team really cares. (Melanie's note informed me that the 92 map was loaded up and ready on the accessport- thank you so much!)
-Overall Product: 10/10; The boxes and products were really well packaged, and came with fun stickers! The only thing that happened was shipping got rough and made a very mild dent in the filter end of the intake tube, which doesn't really matter all that much since the hose clamp conforms to the shape. I'm not going to see it anyhow, and I don't think it was extreme enough to affect performance.
-ETS intake install: 7.5/10; The intake itself was relatively easy to install (3 hours, would have been 1.5 under ideal conditions), though the instructions that came with it were pretty miserable (a QR code that links to a Google Doc with a bunch of photographs. Best thing to do is look up some YouTube videos- they're way better). The one bolt that attaches the air box to the frame near the engine didn't want to thread back into the hole, but everything else lined up really well (the other 2 bolts are very solid and hold the box in place just fine). The filter was really well oiled, and MY GOD the welding on the velocity stack was beautiful! Someone was laying dimes, I don't know if it was a person or machine, but it was clean.
**One tip: you'll want to tilt the velocity stack forward a bit, ETS detailed this to another person in a Reddit post. If you don't, the filter will rub against the ABS modulator. This is due to the intake tube coming up at an angle towards the driver; if you put the VS and filter on completely straight, it leans backwards. The way the intake connects to the frame is also strange; it doesn't bolt on completely, it has this double-studded bolt with a rubber bumper in the middle, and the bolt that attaches the tube to it doesn't screw down all the way. I think this was done on purpose, since the engine bucks and moves around; presumably, if the intake were attached too stiffly, it would have to deal with that twisting force and damage the hoses. I figure this system was done on purpose, but not getting instructions or explanations for some of these quirks left me scratching my head and scrolling through forums.
-ETS Intake noises/performance: 12/10; It makes the car breathe. It's amazing. I was giggling like an idiot for a solid 3 hours. Just get it. My younger sibling says it sounds like Darth Vader, my mom says it sounds like a hissing bobcat. I think it sounds like serotonin.
-Accessport: 10/10; It was brand-new, clean, and worked great out of the box. Even though my car had never had a tune flashed before, the entire process took less than 15 minutes. I know it's recommended to use a battery tender, but it took only 5-7 minutes to do the copying of my car's ECU, then about 2 to upload the tune, then another 2-4 to finish.
-DMann 92 Tune: 10/10; the car feels so much more alive, now. It's winter, so before, it would vibrate and shiver when I started it cold. Now, the shaking is almost imperceptible, and the car seems way happier and smoother. There's no more rev hang between gears 1-2, and after driving around for half an hour to let the car settle, I saw my boost crawl all the way up to 17.1 (or 17.9, it was definitely in the 17's). On the Accessport, DAM stayed at 1, knock learning at 0, and feedback knock only edged to -1.05 once. It's a very stable, well-constructed tune. The car feels like a rocketship; the turbo no longer kicks you back unpredictably, it comes on very smooth and strong. At first, I didn't even notice that the car was so much faster than before; it shows when you put your foot all the way down, though. Apparently the stock throttle mapping put you at nearly 100% power if the pedal was depressed at the 60% position (don't quote me on the exact numbers), but this feels far more linear and predictable. It makes the WRX feel like it should have in the first place.
Overall: 10/10; this is an excellent product, it makes the car far more stable, the install isn't too bad, and gaining upwards of 40WHP for under $1,300 and 2-3 hours of labor is really remarkable these days. Customer service and Felix Performance came in clutch.
