Introducing the ALL NEW Rae-Motorsports Intermediate Pipes for the 2015-2021 Subaru WRX. The Intermediate Pipe "I-Pipe" is the 2nd section of the downpipe "J-Pipe" of which connects to the mid-pipe/start of cat-back.

These pipes are expertly crafted by Morgan Rae, using the newest Rae shop mandrel bender, and her own skilled hands for a superior quality product. The Rae's Intermediate Pipe has a 2.5" flange that can connect to the OEM Catalytic Converter. The Rae-Motorsports Intermediate Pipes can be easily attached to your existing catalytic converter, as well as any mid pipe (cat-back) from either an OEM or aftermarket brand, except Nameless Performance.

If/when you decide to upgrade to a full JPipe it will replace this intermediate pipe. You will need the factory "center section" for this to bolt to which is the front J with the 1st factory cat.
TUNING NOTES:
Intermediate pipe doesn't "need" to be tuned for but it will absolutely help to be tuned with it. They need some WG modification down-low to keep from spiking (albeit the WG will learn it out but we hate having heavy WG learns). You can definitely benefit power wise from tuning with the intermediate pipe.
Answer: Can you toss it on and get more power naturally and let the e-WG learn the new position without any downsides? Yes Can tuning refine and pull more power out? Also, yes
